Palamu, 20 August (HS). Police has exposed the inter-state gang which was continuously stealing in the urban area of ​​district headquarter Medininagar in the months of July and August. The gang from Madhya Pradesh used to commit thefts here. 23 thieves involved in 21 theft incidents of Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar have been arrested. There are 59 criminals involved in this gang. Others have absconded after police action.

The arrested thieves include 11 women and 11 men. A goldsmith from Gaya in Bihar who bought the stolen jewellery has also been arrested. 15 out of 23 criminals were involved in the thefts in Palamu district. The face of the thieves seen in the CCTV matches with one of the 23 criminals. Let us tell you that in the months of July and August till now, thefts worth more than one crore have taken place in Medininagar urban area alone.

The district's Superintendent of Police, Rishma Rameshan, told a press conference at the city police station on Tuesday evening that for the past two and a half months, there had been an unexpected increase in the incidents of theft in the urban areas of Palamu division. After the incidents, a raiding team was formed under the leadership of the subdivisional police officer.

During the investigation, it was learnt that a large number of people from the Pardhi community of Guna district of Madhya Pradesh are building tents in Rehala. In the name of selling toys and balloons during the day, they form gangs and recce houses in the city. The houses which are found closed for a few days or the houses which can be easily entered and stolen, they collect complete information about them and form a team and commit the theft. Their gang sometimes stays near various railway stations of Latehar, sometimes Garhwa and sometimes Palamu.

In the light of the information, people of Pardhi community were arrested and interrogated. During interrogation, their involvement in about 15 cases of theft in Palamu, 3 cases from Latehar, 2 cases from Garhwa city and thefts from various other places was revealed. During the search, tools used in committing the thefts, silver jewellery and some cash were recovered from them. They told that they sell the stolen gold and silver jewellery to goldsmith Manoj Kumar in Gaya, Bihar. Manoj Kumar was also arrested on the charge of buying stolen jewellery. Rs 25,000 cash was recovered from him.

The SP said that after his arrest, the maximum number of 10 cases have been solved in Medininagar urban area, four in Hussainabad, one in Chainpur, three in Latehar, one in Barwadih and two in Garhwa.
