At the age of just 38, he breathed his last on Tuesday (7 July 2026). Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed this sad news on social media and expressed deep condolences. The board said that Shapoor was a pillar who laid the foundation of Afghanistan cricket, whose contribution will always remain immortal.

According to the information received, Shapoor Zadran was suffering from a very rare and serious immune system disease named ‘Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis’ (HLH) for a long time. According to his brother Ghamai Zadran, he was undergoing treatment since October last year. He was brought to India for better treatment, where he was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR and it was here that he breathed his last.
