MoU signed between IIT Kanpur and GB Pant University, agricultural technology will get a boost

Kanpur, June 26 (HS). IIT Kanpur's Startup Incubation and Innovation Center (SIIC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India's first agricultural university GB Pant University Uttarakhand. This will promote agricultural technology innovations and startups. This MoU brought together domain experts, startups, funding agencies and stakeholders of both the institutions. Along with this, cooperation and development will be encouraged in the agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem of North India.

Rucha Khedekar, media in-charge of IIT, said on Wednesday that to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture, SIIC of IIT Kanpur and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology jointly hosted the Agritech Innovation and Startup Meet at GBPUA&T, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. In this program, eminent personalities of the agricultural innovation sector expressed their views, including Dr. Ajit Singh Nain, Research Director GBPUA&T, Prof. Amitabh Bandopadhyay Co-in-charge Professor SIIC IIT Kanpur and Dr. Amita Joshi Deputy General Manager BIRAC emphasized their commitment to support the agricultural technology startups of both the institutions in their journey from ideation and development to validation, regulatory compliance, access to market by connecting with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), etc.

Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, GBPUA&T highlighted the significant potential of this partnership for uplifting the agricultural technology innovation ecosystem in the northern region of the country. Co-incharge of SIIC said that the enthusiasm displayed by the faculty and student members of GB Pant University was very impressive. I am confident that this relationship will yield the desired results for these two great institutions and the startup ecosystem of the entire India.

Dr. Ajit Singh Nain, Director of Research, GBPUA&T said that this one day workshop, organized in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, will continue our university's efforts towards innovation and excellence. We expect these deliberations to lay a strong foundation for future progress. Dr. Amita Joshi provided valuable information on funding opportunities available for agricultural startups through BIRAC and emphasized the importance of providing appropriate institutional support and guidance to help startups test and validate their technologies.
