Most Indians suffer from insomnia, shocking revelation from mental health helpline.

Sleep problems: Getting good sleep is very important to remain physically and mentally healthy. The problem of sleeplessness causes many diseases. If you do not wake up on time, many types of diseases surround your body. Meanwhile, India's Teleman's Mental Health Helpline has made a shocking revelation. The problem of sleeplessness is at the top among the complaints received on this helpline. That means most of the Indians are troubled by the problem of insomnia at night.

What does the report say?

Let us tell you that Teleman's Mental Health Helpline was launched in October 2022. This helpline has received calls from more than 3.5 lakh Indians from across the country. Recently on October 10, the government evaluated Telemanas' report, which revealed that many people are suffering from insomnia. Along with this, 14 percent people are suffering from depressed mood, 11 percent people are suffering from stress and 4 percent people are suffering from anxiety.

The report also shows that at least three percent of the total complaints are suicide-related cases. However, cases related to insomnia are at the top. Let us tell you that most of the calls on Teleman's Mental Health Helpline were from men, out of which 56 percent and 72 percent of the people in the age group of 18 to 45 years called.

Why is sleep disturbed?

With changing times, depression, anxiety and stress have increased among people, due to which the problem of insomnia has increased. Along with this, unbalanced lifestyle, watching mobile or TV till late night and irregular working hours also cause sleep disturbance. As a result, most people complain of not getting enough sleep or getting less sleep.

How many hours of sleep is necessary at what age?

Health experts say that 16 to 17 year old children should sleep at least 13 hours a day. People between the age of 20 to 55 years should sleep at least 7 hours a day. If your age is more than fifty years then you should sleep for 6 hours. If you see, sleep gives rest to your body after a long day's work. It is like a spa which not only improves the body but also gives full energy for the next day. It improves performance and brain development. Chemical processes occurring in the brain during sleep enhance mental capacity and help prevent the negative effects of aging.

What causes lack of sleep

Lack of sleep not only puts you at risk of many diseases but also leads to premature aging and reduces hours of your life. People who do not get enough sleep, all their body parts do not function properly, premature wrinkles start appearing on the face and due to mental stress, their working capacity also gets affected.

Health experts say that lack of sleep increases the risk of mental illness, cancer, brain stroke, heart disease and even diabetes, which adversely affects the body's metabolism and causes weight gain.
