Morena, 12 September (HS). The rain that has been going on since Tuesday night has engulfed the entire region. Due to the continuous rain, life has become disrupted. Rivers and streams are in spate and many low-lying settlements are flooded. Not only this, there have been reports of walls of old houses collapsing. The atmosphere has also become cold due to the rain that has been going on for more than two days. On the other hand, the administration and police officials are also keeping an eye on the situation. Wherever the rivers, streams and ponds are in spate, people of the revenue department have been sent there for monitoring. On the other hand, there is still no trace of the youth who drowned in the catchment area of Pagara Dam on Wednesday. It is worth mentioning that on Wednesday, five youths drowned in the water of Pagara Dam. Out of which two were saved by the villagers. The bodies of two youths were recovered only yesterday and one youth is still missing. The SDRF team kept searching for the youth throughout the day today.
The spell of rain that started on Tuesday continued till late evening on Thursday. Although it is raining in the entire district, but it is raining more in Morena, Jaura, Kailaras and Sabalgarh area. This is the reason that while the Pagara dam is overflowing and all its automatic gates have opened, the water level in the rivers Kwari, Asan and Sank has increased. The situation is such that the people living in the villages on the banks of these rivers are in panic. The culverts along these rivers had already been flooded three days ago, now the situation is such that water is flowing up to five feet above the culvert. Due to which the connection of many villages with the tehsil and district headquarters has been broken. The roads leading to the villages are filled with mud and water. The same situation is in the urban areas as well. Many streets of Jaura and Kailaras have become waterlogged. People are also facing a lot of difficulty in commuting. The administration is also on alert in view of the rain. This is why, wherever the water level in rivers, drains and ponds has increased, representatives of revenue, police and gram panchayats have been sent there to keep an eye on the situation.
Due to continuous rain, all the automatic gates of Pagara dam remained open on Thursday as well. Assistant engineer Rahul Yadav said that about 15000 cusecs of water was flowing out till 5 pm on Thursday. This Pagara dam having a capacity of 654 feet was having 657.5 feet of water flowing. Mr. Yadav also said that our employees posted here are instructing the tourists to stay away from the water, but people do not listen. They reach there to take bath after fighting with the employees. On Wednesday also, our employees had strictly forbidden the five youths from going towards the fast flowing stream.
Apart from this, due to continuous rain for two days, the condition of Kwari river flowing between Kailaras and Antari has also become terrible. Due to rain, water has reached near the old railway bridge. Many people are reaching the bridge to see it. At the same time, this river water is also knocking on the Maa Durga temple built nearby. If the rain continues, then a big danger can arise here. There is no administrative arrangement of any kind on the bridge, which can cause an accident anytime. Whereas the district administration has instructed that security arrangements should be made appropriate on the rivers and drains flowing in rural areas. Apart from this, water is flowing in large quantity on the culvert of village Rijhoni Road, village Bastauli, Braj Bajana, Chamarganwa, Airoli and other villages.
