Deir al-Balah (Gaza Strip): More than 60 Palestinians were killed in Israeli air strikes on central and southern Gaza on Tuesday. One such attack was carried out in the self-proclaimed safe zone, where thousands of displaced Palestinians live. The most destructive attack of the day was carried out in the afternoon. An air strike hit a gas station outside the town of Muwasi in Khan Yunis. Israel has declared this area a safe zone for Palestinians.

Officials at the Nasir Hospital in Khan Younis said 17 people had been killed in the camp area. There was no immediate Israeli military statement on the attack.

More than 90 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed in an Israeli attack in the same area on Saturday. Israel said it targeted Hamas' top leader Mohammad Daif. His condition is not yet known.

Israel attacked the abandoned camps of Nusairat and Zawayda in central Gaza. At least 24 people were killed when four houses were destroyed. These included ten women and four children. While another nine people were killed in the attack on Nusairat.

The Israeli military said it had struck terrorist targets in central Gaza, without naming the locations. It did not give details of its targets. Twelve people were also killed in attacks in Khan Younis and Rafah on Monday and Tuesday.

Israel has carried out this attack at a time when a ceasefire proposal is being worked on between representatives of Israel and Hamas. After Israel targeted Daif, Hamas said that the aim of the talks was to end the nine-month-long war. International mediators are working to bring about a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and to release 120 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
