More than 48 injured

Abuja: At least 18 people were killed in two bomb blasts in Borno state in northeastern Nigeria, while more than 48 were injured. CNN further reported, citing the Nigerian Emergency Service, that the first bomb blast took place at a general hospital at around 3:00 pm on Saturday after a wedding ceremony. While the third bomb blast took place during a funeral.

The Director-General of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Barkizo Muhammad Saiduja, visited Gwoza town and arranged for immediate relief measures.

The State Emergency Management Agency said the explosions killed men, women and children. Many people were injured. They did not give further details.

Earlier on June 25, at least 21 soldiers were killed in an attack by a terrorist group. This tragic incident took place on the border of Faso state with the neighboring state of Burki.

The Matriarchy Liberation Front, one of the many militant groups that have become active in Nigeria, attacked a pipeline laid by China. The group said it would continue the attacks until a $400 million deal with China was cancelled.

Terrorist attacks have been on the rise in the country since the military regime overthrew the country's democratically established government last year.

Not only Nigeria, but Mali in the north and Burkina Faso in the west are also facing terrorist groups linked to Al-Qaeda. The Saheb area has become the biggest victim of these terrorist activities going on for the last decade. Last year, 20 lakh people have been displaced from there. This is what United Nations organizations say.
