More than 39 quintals of poppy husk consignment found in 184 sacks, search on for smugglers

Barmer, June 23 (HS). The biggest consignment of drug smuggling so far this year has been recovered in Barmer district. Sadar police station and DST Barmer have seized a truck full of illegal poppy husk. 39 quintals 72 kg 820 grams of illegal poppy husk has been recovered from the truck. According to the police, the estimated cost of the drug is about six crores.

According to the police, Head Constable Premaram of the DST team had received information that a truck loaded with illegal poppy husk was parked near a hotel located on the highway. On receiving the information, DST in-charge Vikram Singh and team and Sadar police station officer Satyaprakash reached the spot with the force. A truck was found parked near the hotel. When the police removed the tarpaulin covering the vehicle, 184 sacks of illegal poppy husk were found in it. 39 quintals 72 kg 820 grams of illegal poppy husk was recovered from the sacks. During the search of the vehicle, the police team found a photocopy of the power of attorney of 24 February 2022 of the vehicle registration number near the driver's seat by Bhagirathram son Dharmaram Vishnoi resident Punasa Tehsil Bhinmal District Jalore in the name of Moti Singh son Chain Singh resident Sonari Police Station Rural. Apart from this document, a photocopy of Aadhar card in the name of Krishna son Nenaram resident Bhambhuon Ki Beri Adel Police Station Rageshwari was found. The police have taken the documents into custody.

When the police checked the nearby CCTV cameras, four suspicious people were seen going in an unnumbered camper vehicle. The police is searching for the accused on the basis of the four suspects and the documents found in the vehicle.
