An accused from Bihar has been arrested in the case. This 10th pass accused has prepared these documents through a fake website. ADG, State Cyber ​​Police Yogesh Deshmukh gave this information to journalists in a press conference on Wednesday. On this occasion, Cyber ​​Cell SP Vaibhav Srivastava and other police officers and a large number of journalists were present.

Yogesh Deshmukh said that Madhya Pradesh Police is continuously working actively and promptly to prevent cyber crime in the state and arrest vicious criminals. Bhopal State Cyber ​​Police has arrested the accused from East Champaran, Bihar in just two weeks who was endangering the country's democratic process and internal security by creating fake identity cards through online medium.

ADG Yogesh Deshmukh said that the Election Commission of India had sent a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officers of all the states that illegal voter photo identity cards of people were being prepared by creating a fake website by an unknown person. The State Cyber ​​Police Headquarters located in Bhopal received this information on 27 March 2024 through the Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh.

ADG said that since the said complaint was sensitive, the State Cyber ​​Police Headquarters took it very seriously and immediately registered the crime and took it under investigation. The state cyber team took immediate action and started investigation. The investigation team interrogated many people on the basis of technical facts and open source intelligence network tools to establish the identity of the accused at different places in Harsiddhi, Motihari, East Champaran of Bihar and the main accused was duly arrested. Arrested and duly seized passbooks, ATM cards, Paytm QR codes, source codes etc. of fake bank accounts used in the crime. Thereafter, after collecting extensive technical evidence, the police identified the mastermind of this case, accused Ranjan (20), son of Ashok Choubey, resident of Sonvarsha, police station Harsiddhi, district East Champaran, Bihar and arrested him from East Champaran, Bihar in just two weeks.

Anyone could make a fake ID by paying Rs 20

ADG Deshmukh said that through the fake website created by the accused, any person can use the photo, name, address, signature and other information of anyone else and create a QR code to obtain a fake voter identity card, Aadhar card, PAN card. One could get a fake ID by paying just Rs 20 or could even use it as the original ID. There have been 28 thousand hits on this fake website so far and since November till now the accused has defrauded Rs 3 lakh through this website.

Methods adopted by the accused to keep himself confidential

ADG Deshmukh said that the accused Ranjan Choubey is only 10th passed. He learned the entire process of creating a website through YouTube. He purchased the source code through online medium and started receiving money in the fake account by making changes in it. He took a fake SIM from Uttar Pradesh, created fake accounts of Paytm and SBI and also created a fake credit card from the darkweb. To prepare the website, the accused purchased a domain from a company based abroad, purchased server space by obtaining a fake identity through Telegram and did indirect cloud hosting through American servers. The accused used fake e-mails for every communication.

ADG Deshmukh said that avoid visiting any unsafe and fake website. Always get any kind of identity card like voting identity card, Aadhar card, PAN card etc. made from a website approved or verified by the government. To get a new identity card, follow the procedure prescribed by the government or department. He said that citizens should also not create, use or keep any kind of fake ID from such websites.
