Pilgrimage to Amarnaath: Enthusiasm is being seen among the devotees coming from all over the country for Shri Amarnath Yatra. In the last 14 days, more than 2.80 lakh devotees have visited Baba Barfani. In which another batch of 4669 devotees left for darshan from the base camp on Saturday.
Officials of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), headed by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, said that the Amarnath Yatra started on June 29. Since then, more than 2.80 lakh devotees have visited Baba Barfani.
More than 2.80 lakh devotees performed the pilgrimage
Giving information about the Yatra, the official said, 'Out of 4669 pilgrims, 1630 pilgrims left from the Baltal base camp in Kashmir at 3:05 am in a convoy of 74 vehicles. While the second convoy of 3039 pilgrims in a security convoy of 109 vehicles left for the cave temple from the Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp in South Kashmir at 3:05 am.
There are two ways to reach the cave temple
The Amarnath cave is located at an altitude of 3888 meters above sea level in the Kashmir Himalayas. Devotees reach the cave temple via the traditional South Kashmir Pahalgam route or the North Kashmir Baltal route.
If the traditional Pahalgam route is taken, a distance of 48 km has to be covered. Therefore, it takes four to five days to reach the cave temple. If one travels via the Baltal route, a distance of 14 km has to be covered. People using the Baltal route can return to the base camp on the same day after visiting the cave temple.
