Monsoon will be kind across the country for the next 7 days! IMD issues alert of heavy rain in 22 states and strong thunderstorm and lightning in 17 states!

Monsoon has become fully active across the country and heavy rains are continuing from North to South India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning in its latest weekly bulletin that monsoon activities will remain very intense in large parts of the country for the next 7 days. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in 22 states, while in 17 states citizens have been advised to be alert regarding thunderstorms & lightning. In which states will there be torrential rains (alert for 22 states)? According to IMD, due to monsoon winds coming from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, there is a strong possibility of torrential rains in the central, north-eastern and coastal areas of the country: North India: There will be a risk of heavy rains in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab and landslides in some hilly areas. West and Central India: Heavy rain may be recorded over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Maharashtra (especially Konkan, Goa and Mumbai coastal areas). East and North-East India: Continuous heavy rain is expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. South India: The pace of monsoon will be strong in the coastal and hilly areas of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Thunderstorm warning in 17 states Meteorologists have warned that along with heavy rains, there is a high risk of strong winds (speed of 30 to 50 km/hour) and lightning in many states. Especially people working in open fields, agricultural areas and hilly areas have been instructed not to stop under trees or poles during bad weather. IMD’s advice regarding waterlogging and travel Waterlogging in low-lying areas: Waterlogging and traffic jams may occur in low-lying areas of cities and big towns. Travel warning in hilly areas: Tourists have been advised to avoid unexpected travel in view of the danger of landslides on sensitive routes in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Advisory for farmers: In view of the rain alert, farmers have been instructed to maintain proper drainage system in the fields and keep the prepared crops in safe places.
