Monsoon has once again become active at full speed across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Mega Alert’ of monsoon across the country from July 20 to July 26. According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of torrential rain in the plains of North and Central India this week. From a reporter’s point of view, the coming 6 days are going to be very sensitive for many states of the country, because due to this continuous rain, rivers and streams can overflow and there can be a serious problem of waterlogging in the low-lying areas.
Torrential rain will cause trouble in the plains
According to the IMD report, due to a strong monsoon system active, there will be clouds over the plains of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan. Heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in many parts of these areas between July 20 and 26. Meteorologists have warned that due to continuous heavy rains, problems like traffic jams and waterlogging may have to be faced in urban areas, hence people should be aware of the weather while leaving their homes.
Special alert issued for these states also
Apart from the plain states, the strong impact of monsoon is going to be visible in other parts of the country also:
-
Hilly Region (Uttarakhand and Himachal): There is already a danger of landslides in the mountains. Due to heavy rain this week, it has been advised not to travel on sensitive roads.
-
Central and West India: Heavy rains will continue in some districts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat, due to which the local administration has been instructed to remain alert.
-
Coastal areas: There is a possibility of high waves in the sea and heavy showers in the coastal areas in Maharashtra’s Konkan region and Goa.
Administration is ready, appeals to people to remain alert
In view of this mega-alert of the Meteorological Department, the Disaster Management Departments (SDRF) and local administrations of the affected states have been put on alert mode. Especially people living on the banks of rivers and residents of waterlogged areas have been advised to stay in safe places or go out only when necessary. Fishermen have also been instructed not to venture into the deep sea for the next few days. During this monsoon spell, the temperature will drop and there will be relief from the heat, but it may affect the basic facilities.
