Monsoon Red Alert- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a big update regarding the weather. The IMD said that the weather in North India will be pleasant for the next four to five days. People will get relief from the heat. The IMD has said in its forecast that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in Northwest and Northeast India.
Monsoon arrives in Punjab
Here, monsoon has knocked in Punjab. Rain is predicted in Punjab for the next 4 days. The state may receive rain till July 4. According to IMD, monsoon is expected to be better than normal, but if we talk about the month of June, then from 1 to 29 June, Punjab received less than normal rainfall. Usually, Punjab receives 49.7 mm rainfall in these 29 days, but this year only 25.6 mm rainfall has occurred, which is 48 percent less than normal.
The IMD has said that due to the changing weather system, heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till July 4. Heavy rains are likely over Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha till July 2.
Storm in these states
The IMD has forecast very heavy rains over isolated places of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh during this period. In the Northeast, a cyclonic circulation over northeastern part of Assam will cause light to moderate rains over West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next five days.
The IMD has forecast heavy rain at some places over Saurashtra, Kutch, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and coastal and south Karnataka till July 2. The IMD also said that the southwest monsoon further advanced into the remaining parts of east Uttar Pradesh and some areas of west Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
