Yellow alert declared in Delhi
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Delhi on Wednesday. The IMD has predicted cloudy skies and moderate rain on Wednesday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 23 degrees.
The IMD said that Delhi received rainfall for 23 days in August this year and this month had the highest number of rainy days in the last 14 years. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was 22 days in 2012 and then 20 days in 2011. Apart from this, August this year has been the rainiest month for the national capital so far with 291.6 mm of rain, the IMD said.
126 roads closed in Himachal due to rain
Rain lashed many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, disrupting vehicular movement on 85 more roads across the state and uprooting several trees in the state capital Shimla. So far 126 roads are closed in the state. Floods in many districts of Gujarat, 7 people died
At least seven people have died in rain-related incidents in different parts of Gujarat. Over 15,000 people were evacuated and over 300 people were rescued in various districts as the administration launched a massive relief and rescue operation. Heavy rains continued in Gujarat for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, throwing normal life out of gear and causing flash floods in low-lying areas, officials said. Over 15,000 people have been evacuated as water levels in dams and rivers rose due to incessant rains, they said.
