The Health Ministry announcement said that samples were being tested to ascertain whether the suspected patient was indeed infected with monkeypox.

There is nothing to worry about monkeypox, says the government

The ministry said, 'As per protocol, suspected cases are being monitored closely and sources are being identified to prevent possible spread. Apart from this, people who came in contact with that patient are also being identified. The government said, this is in line with the risk assessment done earlier by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and there is no reason for any undue concern.

It is worth noting that keeping in mind the monkeypox cases, a 20-bed ward has already been prepared in a hospital in Mumbai under the alert of the Maharashtra government. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set up a 'Monkeypox Ward' in Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai on 23 August.
