Mohun Bagan Super Giant aims to oust Odisha FC from the top

Bhubaneswar, 24 February (HS). Odisha FC will be aiming to consolidate its top position in the points table when it hosts Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 match to be played at its home ground Kalinga Stadium this evening. While the Mariners would like to oust their rival.

The Juggernauts are back on the field. Despite being away from action in Matchweek 15, they remain at the top of the points table. However, after several matches, there has been constant ups and downs in the table, which could have threatened their position. They played their last match 1-1 draw against FC Goa and will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, the Mariners' performance has improved since Antonio Lopez Habas took over as head coach earlier this month. Since then they have won three in a row, scored seven goals, conceded only twice and kept two clean sheets along the way.

“That's the idea,” Odisha FC's Spanish head coach Sergio Lobera said in the pre-match press conference. We played very well before the break and it is not our job to think about anything else. We will play a big match against Mohun Bagan and we are excited about it.”

Antonio Lopez Habas, Spanish head coach of Mohun Bagan super giants, said, “Roy Krishna is a fantastic player, and this is football, but we do not have any special plans for him. We have to respect the entire team in every match.”

Let us tell you that so far 8 matches have been played between the two teams, out of which 4 have been drawn and the remaining four have been won by Mohun Bagan.
