Kolkata, 27 November (HS). Mohammedan SC will be looking for their first home win in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 for which the Black Panthers will take on Bengaluru FC at their home ground Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Wednesday evening.
Mohammedan Sporting is in its first campaign in the top-tier league, but is placed 12th in the table with five points from seven matches, one win, two draws and four losses. At the same time, the Blues have made a strong comeback this season.
Bengaluru FC is second in the table with 17 points from five wins, two draws and one loss from eight matches.
Mohammedan Sporting has drawn one and lost three of its first four matches at home this season. Neither team has gone winless in their opening five home matches, an unwanted record that Andrey Chernyshov and his Black Panthers will be looking to avoid on Wednesday.
Mohammedan have conceded four goals in the first 15 minutes of matches, the most among any team in the ISL 2024-25 season. At the same time, Bengaluru FC has scored four goals in this period.
A win in this match will be the second time that the Blues will score 20+ points after their first nine matches of the ISL season.
Mohammedan Sporting’s Russian head coach Andrey Chernyshov praised the Blues and their style of play this season.
“We will be playing against one of the best teams currently,” he said. He is very strong and has had a great start to the season. “Their style of football makes them one of the best teams in the ISL.”
Bengaluru FC’s Spanish head Gerard Zaragoza said his players worked on their technical and tactical play during the international break.
He said, “We love playing matches, but breaks help us work technically and strategically. The good thing is that our entire team was training this week.”
This will be the first match between the two teams in ISL.
