Narendra Modi will create history on Sunday by taking oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. He will be the second Prime Minister and the first non-Congress leader to achieve this feat after the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Modi at a grand ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7:15 pm.
Cabinet members will also take oath along with Modi. Around 8,000 people, including heads of governments of seven countries, ambassadors and high commissioners of several countries, prominent personalities from various fields of the country, will be witnesses of this historic moment.
It is almost certain that senior BJP leaders like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh will become ministers. Along with this, former Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Basavaraj Bomai, Manohar Lal and Sarbananda Sonowal, who won the Lok Sabha elections, are also being considered strong contenders for the ministerial post.
Newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Rajghat at 7 am on Sunday before taking oath and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He later paid tribute to martyrs at the memorial of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shama Atal and the National War Memorial.
Security arrangements similar to those for the G-20 summit have been made for the swearing-in ceremony. Delhi will be on high alert on Sunday. Tight security arrangements have been made for the Rashtrapati Bhavan. 2500 police personnel, including five companies of paramilitary forces and Delhi Armed Police, have been deployed for security. Apart from this, multi-layered security with NSG commandos, drones and snipers will cover the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Delhi was already declared a no-fly zone for June 9 and 10.
