New Delhi, 22 October (Hindustan Reporter). Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting ahead of the BRICS summit held in the Russian city of Kazan. Both the leaders especially underlined the warm relations between India and Russia. Prime Minister Modi said that his second visit in three months reflects close coordination and deep friendship. In Russian, President Putin said that our relations are such that you (Prime Minister Modi) do not need translation.
The two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of India-Russia relations with a special focus on progress on the decisions taken during their last meeting in Moscow in July 2024. They also shared perspectives on regional and global issues, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said that on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS summit, Prime Minister Modi praised the Russian chairmanship of the organization and extended best wishes for the success of the summit.
Prime Minister Modi said on Twitter that he had a very good meeting with President Putin. Relations between India and Russia are very deep. Our talks focused on how to further strengthen our bilateral partnership in various fields.
Both the leaders gave statements at the beginning of the talks. In this, the Prime Minister mentioned that this is his second visit to Russia in three months after coming back to power. This shows that there is close coordination and deep friendship between the two countries. In Russian, President Putin said that our relations are such that you do not need translation.
Extending full support to peace and stability in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Prime Minister Modi said that all our efforts give primacy to humanity. India is ready to provide all possible cooperation in the times to come. He has been in constant touch with both the countries. They believe and have reiterated earlier that problems should be resolved only through peaceful means. Congratulating Russia for its successful chairmanship of BRICS, Prime Minister Modi said that BRICS has created its own identity in the last 15 years and now many countries of the world want to join it.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to President Putin for his friendship and warm welcome and hospitality. Expressing happiness over the venue of the meeting, he said that India has deep and historical relations with this city. The opening of India's new Consulate General in Kazan will further strengthen relations with Russia.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi has reached Kazan today to participate in the BRICS summit. On reaching Kazan, people of Indian and Hindu community welcomed the Prime Minister with song and dance performance. While sharing its video, Prime Minister Modi said that the Indian community has created its own identity in the whole world with its achievements.
