The biggest focus of global diplomacy today on the platform of BRICS summit is going to be the bilateral talks between India and China. Chinese President Xi Jinping is reaching Delhi on Saturday, where he will have a much-awaited meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There is every possibility of direct discussion on the issues of Line of Actual Control i.e. LAC in this high level meeting. There are speculations about an agreement between the top leaders of the two countries on sensitive issues like restoration of peace on the border and reduction in the number of troops. While on the first day of this two-day global event being organized in New Delhi, there was discussion on economic partnership and removal of trade barriers in the Business Forum, on the second day today the round of diplomatic talks is attracting the attention of the world.

PM Modi clarified that since 2014, India has promoted free trade agreements with about 40 countries and the same effort is being made on the BRICS platform to strengthen new cooperation networks in areas like agriculture, health, skill development and smart grid. Referring to initiatives such as the BRICS Incubator Network, MSME Portal and Startup Innovation Fund to promote startups, the Prime Minister called for further intensification of investment and talent exchange between member countries.

Putin stressed that the real backbone of international economic relations is strong and reliable trade relations. Prime Minister Modi on Friday had a special meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian after the Business Forum meetings, in which the ongoing conflict in West Asia and all aspects of bilateral relations were discussed in detail. Experts believe that diplomatic efforts are underway to issue a joint statement from the BRICS platform, although there is a possibility of some deadlock in agreeing on sharp language like condemnation of American attacks from Iran’s side. While maintaining diplomatic balance, India is emphasizing on the use of such language on which all the member countries can agree without any dispute and a united message can be given on the global platform.
