Fake Ration Card: Digitization of ration cards has brought a major change in the public distribution system in the country. After verification through Aadhaar and eKYC (Know Your Customer) system, more than five crore 80 lakh ration cards have been found to be fake. Which has been canceled by the government. This has reduced the chaos in the distribution system and also helped in increasing the number of beneficiaries.

More than 80 crore people are getting free ration
In the country, the central government is currently giving free ration to 80 crore 60 lakh people through 20.4 crore ration cards. Of these, 99.80 percent ration cards have been linked to Aadhaar. Food grains are being distributed from fair price shops through 5.33 lakh e-POS (Electronic Point of Sale) devices across the country.

all ration cards computerized
The Department of Food and Public Distribution has computerized the entire distribution process of all 20.4 crore domestic ration cards. Food grains are distributed from almost all fair price shops in the country. Aadhaar authentication of the beneficiary during the distribution process is done through the e-POS device, enabling delivery of ration to the right beneficiaries. Aadhaar authentication is currently used for about 98 per cent of the total grain distribution, which has reduced the possibility of manipulation by eliminating ineligible beneficiaries.

Through eKYC, the identity of the beneficiaries is verified with their Aadhaar and ration card details, thus automatically excluding ineligible beneficiaries. 64 percent of all PDS beneficiaries have been eKYCed. The process of completing the remaining eKYC is underway. For convenience, the government has made the provision of eKYC at any fair price shop in the country.

Digitization of ration card and linking it with Aadhaar has eliminated the possibility of duplication. With the One Nation One Ration Card initiative, all 80.6 crore beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act in any part of the country can get free food grains through the same existing ration card. Irrespective of which state or district their ration card belongs to. By linking with Aadhaar, a transparent system has been created.
