Modi government again cuts the budget for the defense of the country, see how much the government is spending on the army

Defence Budget 2024: The defence budget is mostly a copy of the interim budget presented six months ago. The army has received Rs 621,940 crore for expenditure, which is only Rs 400 crore more than the interim budget. For the third consecutive year, the Captain's budget i.e. expenditure on purchase of weapons and modernisation of the army has been cut. The revenue and pension budget is 67.7% of the defence budget, most of which is spent on the distribution of salaries and pensions.

There are 4 parts of defense budget

1. Revenue Budget

45% of the budget for salary distribution,
The biggest part of the budget is spent on salary distribution among the three forces,
Now the salary of Agniveer has also been added to it,
Health plans, maintenance and repair expenses for ex-servicemen are also covered
This year's capital budget is Rs 2.82 lakh crore

2. Capital budgeting

27.6% of the budget for the purchase of weapons
The money is spent on the modernization of the three forces, purchase of fighter aircraft, weapons and strengthening the army
The Finance Minister has allocated Rs 1.72 lakh crore in the capital budget.

3. Pension budget
Increase of only Rs 3 thousand crore in the pension budget including pension and retirement benefits of retired soldiers of the three armies
This year Rs 1.41 lakh crore has been kept for pension.

4. Ministry of Defence (Civilian)Budget

2951 thousand crore rupees increase
This includes construction of roads in border areas, expenditure on Coast Guard, Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, Army canteens and housing,
The Defence Ministry has set aside Rs 25,563 crore this year.
