People in Dubai are known for spending a lot of money. Recently, many rich people of UAE gathered for a special auction named 'The Most Noble Number'. In the UAE, vehicles with distinctive numbers on number plates and SIM cards have become a status symbol. One of the items put up for auction is a special mobile number 058-7777777, which saw stiff competition among the bidders.
Everyone's eyes were on this special SIM card and finally it was auctioned for 32 lakh dirhams (about Rs 7 crore). The bidding for this number started from 1 lakh dirhams and reached 3 crores within a few seconds. People also bought other numbers with number 7 in the auction with interest. A total of 38 crore dirhams (about Rs 86 crore) were purchased in this auction, of which 29 crore dirhams were collected only by selling the number plates of vehicles with specific numbers.
Apart from this, 4.135 crore dirhams were received from the bid of Etisalat Company special number and 4.935 crore dirhams were received from the bid of special number of DU Company. Only 10 special vehicle number plates and 21 mobile numbers of giant telecom companies Doo and Etisalat were included in this auction. It has been decided to donate the money collected through this auction to the Dh1 Billion Mothers Endowment Campaign. The campaign was launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
