It is worth noting that from the strategic point of view, there are Nelang village, Jadung and other posts along the border of Uttarkashi, where ITBP personnel are deployed to protect the country's border. Now with the facility of BSNL, the army will also be hi-tech.

Efforts have been started to settle Nelang and Jadung villages of Uttarkashi district located on the China border, which were deserted since 1962. The government is attracting tourists under the homestay scheme in these villages under Vibrant Village.

Before this there were no facilities in the village. Here the army soldiers used to contact their relatives only through satellite phones, the call rates for which were very expensive. This is just the beginning at the moment. Soon, 6 more towers are to be installed in Jajung, Neela Pani, Sonam, PDA, Naga Tripani on the China border. BSNL tower has started functioning in Nelang from last 2nd October. For this, Himveer of ITBP and army personnel have expressed gratitude to BSNL.

Nelang and Jadung villages located on the China border in Uttarkashi district were evacuated during the India-China war of 1962. Besides, there are preparations to start tourism activities in these villages.

There are ITBP and Army posts at nine places including Nelong and Jadung on the China border, where ITBP and Army personnel are deployed throughout the year. Due to heavy snowfall during winter, the connectivity of these posts with the district headquarters is also cut off. Till now the medium of communication in this area is only satellite phone, the call rate on which is expensive and its use is possible only from the offices of Army and ITBP.

Assistant General Manager of BSNL Tehri, Aneet Kumar said that efforts are going on to install mobile tower in Jajung. BSNL has also marked the place for this. The location for the tower is also being selected in the area of other posts.
