New Delhi, June 25 (HS). Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh inaugurated the 21st Livestock Census Workshop at Vigyan Bhawan on Tuesday. Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Prof. SP Singh Baghel and George Kurien were also present on this occasion. In the workshop, the Union Minister also launched the mobile application developed for the 21st livestock data collection.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh called for careful planning and implementation of the livestock census. He said the data collected will play a vital role in shaping future initiatives and addressing challenges in the sector. He said the workshop aims to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach for the upcoming livestock census scheduled during September-December 2024.
Minister of State Prof. SP Singh Baghel appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing the strategic workshop and encouraged the participants to actively participate in the training sessions to enhance their understanding and capabilities. Minister of State George Kurien said that the calculation data will contribute to the National Indicator Framework of Sustainable Development Goals.
Alka Upadhyay, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, said that the department is committed to leveraging technology for accurate and efficient data collection. This will play an important role in shaping future policies and programs in the animal husbandry sector. She urged to take advantage of the latest technologies to ensure the success of the census.
