MLA Saryu Rai accused of embezzling crores of rupees in the publication of Aahar magazine, case registered | News India

Ranchi, September 7 (HS). A case has been registered against MLA Saryu Rai in Ranchi. This case has been registered by Manoj Singh in Argora police station on September 6. Manoj Singh is a resident of Harmu Housing Colony. Manoj has filed a case regarding the publication of Aahar magazine. There is an allegation of misappropriation of more than 3.38 crore rupees. In this case, a case has been registered under sections 403, 406, 408, 409, and 420 of BNSS.

In the application, Manoj Singh has alleged that no tender was issued for the publication of the magazine. To suppress the embezzlement of money in the whole case, the former minister appointed his acquaintances to the post of block supply officer and tried to hush up the matter by disregarding the guidelines of the departmental directors. It is also written in the application that Saryu Rai was sworn in as a cabinet minister in the year 2015. Saryu Rai was appointed as the departmental minister of the Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department.

Manoj Singh alleges that under a well-planned conspiracy, the publication of Aahar was recommended in the name of making people aware of their rights regarding food security, kerosene oil distribution, complaints, solutions etc. As a minister, Saryu Rai had also recommended it to the branch officer, additional secretary and departmental secretary for approval. He also claimed that there are serious allegations against the then departmental minister Saryu Rai, his personal assistant, Aahar magazine's executive editor Anand Kumar, Sunil Shankar and others. He has also provided all the documents related to the case to the police station.

Under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, a case has been registered against former Cabinet Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Saryu Rai, Saryu Rai's Additional Secretary (Private Secretary) Anand Kumar, Sunil Shankar, Baba Computers owner Ritesh Gupta and JPPL Managing Director and others. Argora Police is investigating this. MLA Saryu Rai was called to take his side in the FIR but he did not pick up the phone.
