MLA from South India's leading party, miscreants broke EVM inside polling booth.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: A video has surfaced of ruling party YSRCP MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy being threatened at a polling booth in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. In this video, Reddy is allegedly seen breaking the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). They are also seen threatening the polling workers. After this incident came to light, the Election Commission has started investigation.

When did the incident happen?

The incident is of 13th May. The Election Commission said, we have handed over the video to the police and have asked them to help in the investigation. Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh said in a statement that an incident of EVM tampering was reported at polling booth number 202 and 7 of Machharla assembly constituency. From here, sitting MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy was recorded on web camera throwing the EVM on the ground. Went. Palanadu district election officials have handed over the video footage of the polling stations to the police. Police have been asked to investigate the incident.

Instruct DGP to take strict action

According to officials, the MLA's name has been included as an accused in the investigation. The Election Commission said that we have taken this matter very seriously. CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena has been instructed to ask the DGP to take strict action against all those involved in these incidents.

EVMs are being broken due to fear of defeat

Opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party national general secretary Nara Lokesh alleged that the MLA from Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's party tried to break the EVM due to fear of defeat in the elections. He also shared a video of the alleged incident on X.
