Surat: A 3-year-old child went missing from Surat Civil Hospital. Meanwhile, this matter reached the Home Minister. When the police was investigating this incident, it was found that in the CCTV footage a woman was taking the child away. After which the police formed different teams and investigated this matter. After investigating more than 1 thousand CCTV cameras, finally a couple involved in this incident was arrested.
The couple living in Sachin area of Surat had come to the civil hospital to find out about the relationship. Meanwhile, their 3-year-old child was playing in the corridor outside the G-1 ward, from where he suddenly went missing. When the child went missing, the family searched for the child, but when he was not found, the whole matter reached Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi. Harsh Sanghvi immediately informed the police officials about the incident and senior police officers reached the civil hospital and investigated.
During the investigation, CCTV revealed that a woman was carrying a child. Therefore, the police formed different teams to investigate the matter. 23 teams including DCB, SOG, PCB, ACP H Division and Khatodara Police were formed under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Branch regarding this incident and more than 1000 CCTV cameras were extensively investigated for 24 hours by 215 officers/employees.
Meanwhile, the police arrested the accused Indrabali Rekharam Ravidas (45) and his wife Pankuldevi (40) along with the three-year-old child, who was kidnapped from their residential house.
Initial interrogation of both the arrested accused revealed that accused Indrabali Rekha Ram Ravidas has two wives. His first wife is Panfuldevi, he has a daughter among his children and despite 18 years of marriage, Panfuldevi did not have a son, but four months before her husband, she married Sangeeta Devi for the second time.
This second wife brought her five and a half year old son Sangeeta Devi from her previous husband with her. Yesterday on 25/06/2024, the accused and Sangeeta Devi admitted the son who fell ill to New Civil Hospital for treatment.
Where accused Panfuldevi was present in front of G-1 Ward on the first floor of the Hospital, she spotted this 3 years old child and as she did not have a son of her own, she loved him and lured him to her residential house at Bheestan.
According to the police officer, during the search of the couple's house, they found 2-3 more children. Therefore, since we are concerned about human trafficking, we have started the process of DNA testing of all the children. At present, the couple has been arrested and further investigation is going on.
