Mumbai: The fire department of Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has taken unique action against the sellers of illegal firecrackers on Sunday. In this way, water was poured on the crackers of firecracker sellers, due to which they got wet and became useless. Not only this, the seized firecrackers were buried in the ground.
To avoid any accidents while selling firecrackers, Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has formulated a policy for safe sale of firecrackers as per the directions of the High Court. Accordingly, sales were allowed in private open spaces and grounds. However, at many places firecrackers were being sold in violation of these rules. To take action against this, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sanjay Katkar formed a team of fire department to take action against illegal firecracker sellers.
On Sunday, the team took action against shops selling firecrackers illegally. In this action, firecrackers were destroyed by pouring water from a fire vehicle on the goods of a shop selling firecrackers illegally. At some places, goods were confiscated and the confiscated goods were buried in the ground instead of being stored.
Let us tell you that on Sunday the fire department took action against a total of 18 shops. Due to pouring water on seven of these shops, all the firecrackers got wet and became useless. Goods were confiscated from four shops, while seven shops were completely closed. At the same time, the process of canceling the 'No Objection Certificate' of shops that violate the rules despite obtaining 'No Objection Certificate' from the Fire Brigade Department has been started. The action team comprised two fire station officers, four assistant fire station officers and twenty-five fire department personnel. With such strict action, it is expected that the dangerous sale of illegal firecrackers through shops will be curbed.
