Raipur, June 18 (HS). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the government is taking new decisions for the workers. Realizing the difficulties of the working laborers, instructions have been given to start model labor food centers to provide them food at affordable rates near their workplace. These centers will open in Raipur, Korba and Kunkuri.
Labor Minister Lakhan Lal Devangan said that model labor food centers will be set up at Telibandha in Raipur, Municipal Corporation Budhwari Tanki in Korba and Kunkuri. At present, labor food centers are being operated at 24 places in 9 districts. While expanding the scheme, new labor food centers will be started at 27 places in 13 districts.
The meeting was held today on Tuesday at the divisional office in Nava Raipur. Labour Commissioner and Co-Secretary Mrs. Alarmel Mangai D, Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Board Secretary Mrs. Savita Mishra, Additional Labour Commissioner S.L. Jangde and officers of the Labour Department were present.
Labor Minister Mr. Dewangan asked the Labor Department circles to ensure that 100% eligible workers get benefits by clearly matching the workers' records while resolving the applications for schemes and for registration of unorganized and construction workers. Also, ensure that such workers in whose records there are deficiencies or errors, are given the benefits of registration and scheme by getting the records completed for them. Instructions were given to re-examine the applications which were cancelled by the district by declaring the self-declaration certificate invalid in the registration and scheme applications of construction and unorganized workers under Khairagarh district.
In the meeting, the officials informed that there are a total of 6,386 factories in the state, out of which 922 have been identified as risk category factories. Free Coaching Assistance Scheme is being run in the state for the children of Chief Minister Construction Workers. Under which a total of 1534 applications have been received so far. Out of these, 927 applications are under process. Under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, 2 lakh 47 thousand 742 applications were received in the state from calendar year January 2024 to May 2024, out of which 25,700 applications were resolved. During the meeting, the Labor Minister reviewed the Mahtari Jatan Yojana, Noni-Babu Scholarship Scheme and said that ensure that the children of all eligible labor families get its benefits.
The Labor Minister directed to start the selection process of schools and children to provide free education to the children of construction workers in private schools. In the meeting, he instructed the officers to inspect the factories of high risk category 2 to 3 times every year and during the inspection, if the factory is not built as per the approved maps and to check the training being given in the factories.
It was told in the meeting that instructions were given to ensure adequate supply of medicines in all the 42 dispensaries running under the Employees State Insurance Services, so that workers do not face inconvenience due to lack of medicines. Instructions were given by Chhattisgarh Bhawan and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to collect 100% cess amount on construction works being done in the state under the “Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess Act 1996”.
