Minister Kanshana requested Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan to increase the target limit of moong procurement by 25 percent

Bhopal, June 21 (HS). Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan reviewed the pulses production on Friday through video conferencing from New Delhi. He asked the states to achieve the set targets 100 percent. In the review meeting, Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Aidal Singh Kanshana requested to increase the 25 percent target limit of moong procurement to 40 percent.

Union Minister Chauhan said that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. We all will work together with determination to make the country self-reliant under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has instructed the Agriculture Ministers and officials of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Telangana, including Madhya Pradesh, present in the meeting, to take appropriate necessary steps to achieve 100% of the target set for pulses production for the year 2024-25. For Madhya Pradesh, the target for the year 2024-25 has been set to produce 76.19 lakh tonnes of pulses, including 4 lakh tonnes of toor, 15.50 lakh moong, 9 lakh urad, 6.95 lakh masoor, 37.50 lakh gram and 2.24 lakh tonnes of other pulses. A target of 24 thousand quintals of seed production has also been set for Madhya Pradesh in the year 2024-25.

Agriculture Minister Kanshana requested to increase the procurement target limit of 25 percent of the total production of summer moong to 40 percent in the marketing year 2024-25. Minister Kanshana requested to instruct the concerned to prepare early ripening hybrid variety of pigeon pea to protect it from hailstorm. He informed that Adarsh ​​Pulses Villages will be developed in Tikamgarh, Shivpuri, Narmadapuram, Narsinghpur and Harda districts of Madhya Pradesh. Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal was also present in the meeting.
