Mining work from rivers will remain closed for three months: District Magistrate

Haridwar, 27 June (HS). According to District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, on the instructions of the government, in view of the increase in the water level of Ganga and its tributary rivers during the rainy season, all the RBM Chugans being operated in the district, permits issued for soil excavation and all mining related works will be closed from the evening of 30 June to 30 September.

He said that violation of the order during this period would be treated as illegal mining and action would be taken against the accused under the Uttarakhand Sub-Mineral Prevention Rules and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
