Millions of pilgrims troubled by heat in Saudi Arabia, 19 pilgrims died due to heat wave in Jordan

Not only India but many countries of the world are suffering from severe heat. 19 people who went to Saudi Arabia for Haj pilgrimage have died, while 17 people have gone missing. All the people who died of defecation were citizens of Jordan. According to the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, they are contacting Saudi authorities to bury the dead or bring them back to Jordan. Apart from this, the Iranian Red Crescent has also confirmed the death of five Iranian pilgrims.

The temperature in Mecca has crossed 40 degrees, which is likely to rise to 45 to 47 degrees. Saudi Arabia is experiencing severe heat but no explanation has been given by Saudi authorities regarding the deaths due to heat. More than 18 lakh people from all over the world have reached Mecca for Hajj amid the scorching heat. Looking at the flow of pilgrims, more than 20 lakh people are expected to participate this year.

Instead of a decrease in the number of pilgrims after the Corona epidemic, this year the highest number of pilgrims is being seen. However, 24 lakh people performed Hajj in 2019. According to Saudi Arabia's Health Ministry spokesman Mohammed Al Abdulali, 2,760 cases of heat stress and sunstroke were reported on Sunday. Given the high level of heat, even more people may fall victim to it. Pilgrims have been advised to avoid heat and drink water regularly.
