Gorakhpur: To deal with the increasing incidents of adulterated milk, the Food Safety Department has prepared to implement strict rules in Gorakhpur. Under this new initiative, identity cards will be issued to all milk vendors. Along with this, dairies whose milk sales are more than 500 liters will be required to obtain a license.

It is mandatory to have an ID card

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has decided to strictly implement these rules with the aim of ensuring the quality of milk and milk products. Recently, Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel told the Lok Sabha that the highest number of cases of adulteration in milk are found in UP. Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Dr. Sudhir Kumar Singh said that a fee of Rs 100 has been fixed for registration. Along with this, it will be mandatory for all milk vendors to have an ID card.

The team of the Food Safety Department will now set up camps to ensure the registration of milk vendors, where the vendors will be registered. Those vendors who are not registered will first be given a notice and their milk will be confiscated. Even after this, if they do not follow the rules, a case can be filed against them in the court and if found guilty, a fine of up to two lakh rupees can also be imposed.
