IRCTC Metro Ticket Booking: Like train tickets, now you can also book metro tickets from home. Now not only train tickets but also metro tickets can be booked from IRCTC's app and website. That means now IRCTC can book metro tickets in advance apart from rail tickets. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have joined hands to promote 'One India, One Ticket'.
For train reservations, you get the facility of booking tickets 4 months i.e. 120 days in advance from IRCTC website. Similarly, now you can also book 120 days in advance for metro travel. Once booked, the ticket will also be valid for 4 days. Whereas currently the validity of metro tickets is also for one day only. Metro tickets will be valid 2 days before and 2 days after the scheduled date of travel. That means even if you reach early or late, your money will not be wasted and you will be able to travel with the same metro ticket. If for any reason the train ticket has to be cancelled, then the metro ticket can also be cancelled along with it.
How will the booking be done?
Metro tickets can be booked through IRCTC's website and app. Once booked, the ticket will be valid for 4 days. Whereas currently the validity of metro tickets is also only for one day. To book metro tickets from IRCTC, the booking system of Delhi Metro Rail will be changed. Metro tickets with QR code will be booked, their QR codes will be printed on the train tickets. People can take a printout of it and keep it with them or can use it by taking a screenshot in the phone.
