Kanpur, May 28 (HS). Monsoon usually reaches Kerala on June 1, but this time the conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance. It is expected to reach the Kerala coast in the next three days. The southwest monsoon has started advancing from the Bay of Bengal and the northeastern region. The Meteorological Department says that the monsoon is likely to reach Kerala at the end of this month.

Dr. S N Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural Technology University, said on Tuesday that pre-monsoon rains have started in Kerala. Conditions are favorable for the advancement of monsoon in some parts of Bay of Bengal, Northeast India and Lakshadweep. After the arrival of monsoon in Kerala, monsoon can reach Mumbai in the next 8-10 days, whereas usually monsoon reaches Mumbai only by 8-10 June and it seems the same this time too. Apart from this, it will take time for monsoon to reach North India.

Dr. S N Sunil Pandey said that by June 15, monsoon can enter Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar. By June 20, it can knock in the interior areas of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. It can take about 30 days to reach North India and it is likely that monsoon will reach Kanpur and Central Uttar Pradesh between June 22 and 25.
