What is menstrual flooding?
However, a very common problem occurs during this time, which is called menstrual flooding. In common parlance, it can also be called heavy periods or heavy bleeding during periods. This is due to ovulatory dysfunction. The ovaries release eggs in abnormal quantities as their quantity decreases with age.
Why does menstrual flooding occur?
This causes a disturbance in reproductive hormones leading to heavy bleeding. After the age of 30, the menstrual cycles may start to become shorter, irregular and heavy bleeding may occur. Then by the age of 40 and 50, when the body tries to produce eggs, the level of estrogen hormone increases and the amount of progesterone hormone decreases. These thicken the outer layer of the uterus. This layer comes out of the body in the form of clots and heavy blood flow, which is called menstrual flooding.
Serious effects of menstrual flooding
This can cause blood loss in women and they may suffer from anemia. Also, the person feels tired and irritable all the time. If you also feel the same, contact your doctor. Do the tests suggested by them. Do not ignore it because if it becomes serious, surgery may be required.
