Memorial day of Teeji Patshahi Guru Amardas was celebrated with devotion | News India

Haridwar, September 18 (HS). On the death anniversary of the third Guru of Sikhism, Guru Amardas Maharaj, the saint community and devotees paid their respects to him with reverence at the Tapasthan Gurudwara Teeji Patshahi in Kankhal. On this occasion, Ardaas was done for the Akhand Paath of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Bhog was offered.

While presiding over the program, Kothari Mahant Jaswinder Singh Maharaj of Shri Panchayati Akhara Nirmal said that Guru Amardas raised awareness against social evils. He performed penance at Sati Ghat in Kankhal and stopped social evils like Sati Pratha. Mahant Balwant Singh Maharaj, former secretary of Shri Panchayati Akhara Nirmal said that the words of the Gurus will always remain relevant. All the Gurus of Sikhism sacrificed their all to protect Hinduism and protected Sanatan Dharma. Mahant Ranjay Singh Maharaj of Teeji Patshahi Tapasthal Guru Amardas Gurudwara said that Guru Amardas was a great social reformer. Guru Amardas Maharaj visited Haridwar 22 times in his lifetime and performed penance at Sati Ghat in Kankhal and made the public aware against social evils. Bibi Bininder Kaur Sodhi said that Guru Amardas started the tradition of langar for social harmony. Swami Rishishwaranand said that late Mahant Jaswinder Singh Sodhi was an epitome of sacrifice and penance. Social workers Atul Sharma and Nirav Sahu welcomed all the saints and great men by garlanding them.

On this occasion Mahant Jaswinder Singh, Swami Rishishwaranand, Mahant Durgadas, Mahant Narayan Das Patwari, Mahant Balwant Singh, Mahant Khem Singh, Mahant Mohan Singh, Mahant Prahlad Das, Mahant Tirath Singh, Swami Jitvanand, Mahant Raghavendra Das, Mahant Harshvardhan, Mahant Shyamprakash, Swami Prakashanand, Mahant Manoj Maharaj, Swami Shivam Giri, former MLA Sanjay Gupta, former Minister of State Dr. Sanjay Paliwal along with saints and mahants of all thirteen akhadas and many dignitaries were present.
