Mumbai, 20 September (HS). In the last fifteen days, a lot of success has been achieved in controlling traffic congestion on Ghodbunder Road. Today, Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao said that the measures being taken to get rid of the jam are being constantly reviewed. In view of the meeting held on September 6 to remove traffic congestion on Ghodbunder Road and internal roads, a meeting was again held today, Friday, at the Citizen Training Center of Thane Municipal Corporation to consider the measures and problems. On this occasion, Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, City Engineer Prashant Sonagara, Public Works Department Superintending Engineer Siddharth Tambe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat, Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Tayde and Shankar Patole, Suburban Engineer Vikas Dhole were present in this meeting and Metro officials including Ghodbunder Road Nodal Officer Shubhangi Keswani and Executive Engineer Sanjay Kadam were present.

In this meeting, Pankaj Shirsat informed that as per the action plan decided in the first meeting, various systems have taken measures in coordination with each other to solve the problem of traffic jam on Ghodbunder Road. It is said that vehicles weighing 150 to 200 tonnes pass through Gayamukh Ghat, so the asphalt road is constantly damaged during monsoon. Therefore, the Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department said that concreting is required here.

He also clarified that this route has now been transferred to Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation. He also said that the road from Kapurbawdi-Majiwada flyover to Mumbai side U-turn to Viviana Mall will be tarred soon. Meanwhile, Metro officials are demanding that the service road be made more efficient as the routes there have become shorter due to the work of two flyovers under the Metro. City Engineer Prashant Sonagara has said that there is a need to be more careful during heavy traffic on the service road.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saurabh Rao has directed that to solve this problem, the service road should be strengthened first. In today's meeting, it was decided to install 'tyre killers' on a pilot basis in Thane to prevent accidents and traffic jams caused by driving in the opposite direction on the road. Such places will be determined by the traffic police. After this, 'tyre killers' will be installed there by the Municipal Corporation. To give information about such 'tyre killers', boards will be installed 100 to 200 meters in advance. Adequate lighting will be ensured in this area at night. Also, these 'tyre killers' will be installed after determining that that part is coming in the area of CCTV cameras. Thane Municipal Commissioner Rao said that these will stop vehicles coming in the opposite direction.
