Guwahati, 09 July (HS). A meeting of the Urban Development Ministers of Northeast with Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar was held today at a private hotel in Guwahati. After the meeting, Assam's Urban Development etc. Minister Ashok Singhal said through social media, “I am happy to participate in the meeting of Urban Development Ministers of Northeast region with Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar in Guwahati today.”
It is estimated that by 2047, almost half of India's population will live in urban areas and hence, guided by the proactive development programme of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Assam as well as the rest of the Northeast is on the verge of rapid urbanisation.
In today's meeting, several important initiatives and programmes aimed at accelerating growth of cities in the North East and sustainable development of urban infrastructure were discussed in detail.
The Prime Minister has called our Northeast “Ashtalakshmi”. Under his visionary leadership, we are committed to work tirelessly towards the rapid development of our cities, sustainable socio-economic growth of our people and the creation of a modern, self-reliant and developed Assam and a developed Northeast.”
