Meeting of election officer with observer and candidate

Guwahati, 23 April (HS). Kamrup (Metro) District Election Officer called a meeting today to conduct the Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency elections on May 7 in a transparent, fair, peaceful and orderly manner. This was an important review meeting held at Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner's Office Meeting Hall.

The meeting was attended by Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner and District Returning Officer Sumit Sattavan, General Supervisor Keshav Singhania, Police Supervisor K Raghuram Reddy and Expenditure Supervisor T James Singhan. The General Observer urged all parties to act as per the election code of conduct and immediately inform the concerned authorities in case of any complaint or objection.

Similarly, the police observer said that the election work will be conducted as per all the rules and regulations laid down by the Election Commission. In the meeting, the Expenditure Observer told that it is necessary for each candidate to have a separate bank account in the name of the election and their accounts will be checked thrice from the time of filing of nomination papers till the day of voting.

He said that the expenditure on election campaign, transportation etc. of each party and rival candidates is being regularly monitored. It is noteworthy that for complaints related to election expenditure, the mobile number of the Expenditure Observer is – 98642-22411, for general complaints the mobile number of the General Observer is – 60037-75696, in case any complaint is made to the Police Observer, the mobile number is – 99890- Contact on 93764.

In the meeting, Kamrup (Metro) District Election Officer Sumit Sattavan sought cooperation of all parties in the smooth conduct of the election process.
