US Vice President Kamala Harris has met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In this important interview, Kamala Harris pointed to the human suffering including the death of civilians in the ongoing war in Gaza and said that Israel has the right to defend itself. But what matters is how they defend themselves. Harris met Netanyahu at the White House complex, the official residence and office of the US President.
right to defend Israel
“I have said this many times, but I will say it again. Israel has a right to defend itself and how can it do that? It is understandable,” Kamala Harris told reporters shortly after the interview. “Hamas is a brutal terrorist organization. Hamas started the war on October 7, killing 1,200 people, including 44 Americans. Hamas has committed horrific acts of sexual violence and has taken 250 people hostage. There are American citizens who are held hostage in Gaza.”
'I will not remain silent'
Kamala Harris said, “I have expressed grave concern over the dire humanitarian situation there. More than 2 million people are facing food insecurity and 5 million people are facing severe levels of food insecurity.” What has happened in Gaza in the last nine months is devastating. Harris said, “There are pictures of desperate, hungry and dead children fleeing for safety after being homeless for the second, third or fourth time in many cases.” We cannot close our eyes to these terrorists. “I will not remain silent.”
The discussion remains
The US Vice President said that discussions are going on regarding ceasefire and release of hostages. He said that the first phase of the agreement will be a complete ceasefire. Under which Israeli forces will have to withdraw from population centers in Gaza. In the second phase, the Israeli army will completely withdraw from Gaza. And this will bring a permanent end to hostility. He said that the time has come to end this war and it should be ended so that Israel can release all the hostages safely. The suffering of Palestinians in Gaza should end and Palestine should exercise its rights with freedom, dignity and self-respect. There has been encouraging progress in the discussions and meetings on this agreement.
it's deal time
Kamala Harris said, I have told Prime Minister Netanyahu that it is time to make a deal. I see and hear those who want a ceasefire and peace. Let us make this deal so that we can end the war. The hostages should be called back home and the Palestinians should be given the necessary relief.
