Meerut Metro Train: The first train set of Meerut Metro has reached Duhai depot of Ghaziabad. This train set consisting of three coaches was brought on big trailers. After reaching the NCRTC depot in Duhai, it will be assembled and various types of testing will also be done. It was taken to Duhai depot on the night of 27 February.
Recently, NCRTC MD Shri Vinay Kumar Singh had unveiled the first look of the Meerut Metro trainset. Some time back, the first trainset was handed over to NCRTC by Alstom at Sanvali, Gujarat. This is the first time that the first train set of Meerut Metro has reached the NCRTC depot of Duhai.
Under the Make in India campaign, the train set of Meerut Metro has been prepared in a modern manner. These train sets are modern, energy efficient, lightweight in design, based on the technology of Regenerative Braking System, Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Automatic Train Control (ATC), and Automatic Train Operation (ATO). The speed of this metro train is 120 kilometers per hour.
Meerut Metro aims to provide safe, fast and modern transportation service to the residents of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the trial run of Meerut Metro will also be started soon with the arrival of Meerut Metro trainset. Let us tell you that Meerut Metro corridor is spread over a length of 23 km with 13 stations. The construction work of Meerut Metro and all the stations is going on at a fast pace.
This is the first time in the country that both NaMo Bharat trains and Meerut Metro will run on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS infrastructure. To make this operation successful, NCRTC has implemented European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 with Hybrid Level 3 in long term development. With this, RRTS and Metro services in Meerut will be able to continue without interruption.
Features of Meerut Metro Trainset
- Meerut Metro has been designed in a modern manner, providing comfort and safety to the passengers. This metro has many modern facilities like AC, comfortable seating arrangement, luggage rack, grab handle, USB device charging.
- Meerut Metro will consist of 3 car train sets. It has modern designed seats. At the same time, more than 700 passengers can travel in one train.
- This metro has light weight stainless steel coaches made with modern technology.
- Meerut Metro also has comfortable standing spaces, luggage racks, CCTV cameras, mobile charging facility, dynamic route maps, infotainment system, light-based auto control ambient lighting and other amenities.
- To control the crowd, Platform Screen Doors (PSD) have been installed at all the stations so that there is no lapse in the safety of passengers.
- Meerut Metro has also been provided with safety features like gate opening through push buttons, emergency exit devices, fire extinguishers, alarms and talk-back systems to reduce energy consumption.
- Apart from this, arrangements have also been made in the metro to carry medical stretchers and space for wheel chairs in case of emergency.
