Jaipur, 12 April (HS). After the Government of India issued an alert that the impact of heat and heat wave will be severe this year, the Medical and Health Department has started preparations to protect the common people in the state from diseases caused by heat and heat wave. Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health Shubhra Singh, in a high level meeting held on Friday in this regard, directed the medical department to be on alert mode and ensure all preparations.
Singh said that according to the alert issued by the Government of India, Rajasthan has been considered among the states most affected by heat and heat wave. There is a possibility of extreme heat and heatwave in the state between April and June. Keeping this in mind, all concrete arrangements should be ensured to protect and treat the common people from heatwave related diseases.
Form rapid response teams, create effective protocols for treatment
The Additional Chief Secretary directed that a heat action plan should be made for every district. Also, rapid response teams should be formed. An effective protocol for investigation, medicine and treatment of diseases caused by extreme heat and heat wave should be prepared. Also, all arrangements for testing, medicine and treatment should be ensured in hospitals. There should be adequate stock of medicines and test kits in district drug stores and hospitals.
Create awareness by identifying the sections most affected by heatwave.
Singh said that it is necessary to make the general public aware to prevent heat wave and heat related diseases. For this, IEC activities should be done extensively across the state. Children, elderly, pregnant women and patients suffering from serious diseases, along with other categories which are at high risk from heatwave, should be identified and made aware to avoid heat waves and adopt necessary measures. He also directed to provide necessary training to doctors, paramedical staff and other concerned parties.
State level VC on Saturday, State Task Force meeting on 18th April
Director Public Health Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur said that a state level video conference will be organized on Saturday under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Shubhra Singh for prevention and treatment of heat wave and heat related diseases and other preparations. Principals, superintendents of all medical colleges, all CMHOs, PMOs, BCMHOs and related officers will be included in this. Besides, a meeting of the state level task force constituted under the National Program for Climate Change for Human Health will also be organized on April 18.
The meeting was attended by Additional Director, Hospital Administration Dr. Sushil Kumar Parmar, State Nodal Officer of NPCCH, Dr. R. N. Meena, Dr. Anil Aggarwal of UNICEF and other senior officials were present.
