For the last 19 days, the sanitation workers of Municipal Council Kathua have been on strike for their pending demands, due to which there have been piles of filth in the entire city and the threat of epidemic has started looming. Taking cognizance of which the district administration started a cleanliness campaign in the city with the help of police late at night. After which the sanitation workers reached the spot and stopped the work.
With the help of the police, Municipal Council Kathua CEO Amit Sharma reached the spot with his team at night and started the work of collecting garbage from the main intersections of the city. Garbage had just been removed from two-three places when temporary sanitation workers reached the spot and started opposing the cleanliness drive. Meanwhile, Kathua police also reached the spot with whose help some parts of Kathua city were cleaned. Later, the sanitation workers appealed to CEO Kathua to stop the work immediately and not to affect their strike, after which the work was stopped.
