New Delhi, June 22 (HS). Left-handed batsman Kyle Mayers has been officially approved as a replacement for the injured Brandon King in the West Indies 2024 T20 World Cup squad. The ICC gave this information late on Friday night.
Mayers, who has played 37 T20 matches, was named as a replacement after King was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a side strain. King suffered the injury while batting against England on Wednesday (June 19) and had to retire on 23. West Indies lost the match by 8 wickets.
Mayers is expected to join the squad on Saturday, ahead of the hosts' final Super 8 match against South Africa on June 23.
