SA vs SL: The first test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka was completed recently. In the match played in Durban, South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 233 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. However, the news of match fixing in this match has gained momentum. The statement of fast bowler Marco Johnson has created a stir.

South African fast bowler Marco Janssen said that his teammate Gerald Coetzee had asked him the name of the bookie after the left-arm fast bowler had taken three wickets after bowling a no ball. This incident happened on the second day of the match against Sri Lanka. The 24-year-old all-rounder said that he immediately dismissed such reports.

Johnson’s best performance
Let us remind you that Marco Johnson had given a memorable performance in the first innings against Sri Lanka. He bowled the best of his career and took seven wickets for just 13 runs. Sri Lanka was out for 42 runs, which is the lowest score in their Test history. However, the highlight of Johnson’s over was his first three wickets.

The 24-year-old Johnson took the wickets of Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews with front-foot deliveries. Speaking to the media, Jensen said that he was unable to mark his bowling early on, due to which he had many no balls.

what jensen said
Cricbuzz quoted Marco Jensen as saying, Gerald Coetzee actually asked me what the name of the bookie was. I said- There is no possibility of this. Perhaps I was running too fast or my run-up marks were not correct in the beginning. From the third over of my spell, I was constantly trying to keep my feet behind the crease. Every time I did this the foot went halfway in and out of the crease or a little behind.

Bavuma’s century
Marco Janssen further said, Temba Bavuma fought like a warrior and scored 70 runs in the first innings and played an important role in taking South Africa to 191 runs in the first innings. According to Johnson, Bavuma’s innings was a century innings for the team.

He said, I thought our team would be all out for 120 or 130 runs. Temba Bavuma’s 70 runs may not have been a century, but from the team’s point of view it was no less than a century. South Africa leads the two-match series 1-0. The second and last Test of the series between the two teams will be played in Zikarbeha from December 5.
