Every year lakhs of devotees from India and abroad reach Katra in Jammu and Kashmir to have darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. Due to huge crowd of devotees during Navratri, festivals, holidays and weekends, it becomes very difficult to get confirmed tickets in trains. To overcome this problem of passengers and to make the journey to the court of Maa Vaishno Devi easier, Indian Railways is going to start four new train services for Jammu and Kashmir. With the launch of these new trains, the journey to Katra will become faster, more comfortable and convenient than before.
4 new trains will start: Direct connectivity will be available from Delhi, Amritsar and Kashmir
In the four new train services being started by the Railways, the needs and convenience of the passengers have been fully taken care of. The scheme includes a direct train from New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, two new high-speed Vande Bharat trains from Jammu Tawi to Srinagar and a new train from Amritsar to Katra. With the running of these trains, passengers coming to Katra from Delhi, Punjab and Kashmir Valley will get direct transportation, which will free them from the hassle of changing trains midway.
New trains will be equipped with speed of 160 km/h and ‘Kavach’ safety system
State-of-the-art technology has been used in the new Vande Bharat trains for the safety of passengers and saving time. These trains will be equipped with the Indian-made automatic train protection system ‘KAVACH’. Apart from this, they have been provided with modern safety features like emergency button, advanced fire safety and passenger communication system. Talking about speed, the design speed of these trains is 180 km/hr, while they will run at a safe operational speed of 160 km/hr, which will save precious time of the passengers.
Smart onboard features: CCTV, UV-C air filter and special accommodations for the disabled
To provide a world-class and clean travel experience to the passengers, CCTV cameras and real-time monitoring systems have been installed in all the coaches of these trains. To keep the air inside the coach completely disinfected and fresh, an air purification system based on UV-C technology has been provided. Apart from this, comfortable seats, modern coach design, better air conditioning and specially designed toilets have been provided for the convenience of physically challenged passengers.
