Massive fire broke out after gas tanker overturned in Raisen, MP, driver-cleaner burnt alive

Bhopal, March 10 (HS). An LPG gas tanker went out of control and overturned on Sunday afternoon in Bari police station area on National Highway 45 in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, due to which it caught fire. The driver and cleaner of the tanker burnt to death in this accident. Also, as the fire spread nearby, three huts built in the fields were burnt. Police reached the spot and sent the bodies of both of them to the hospital for post-mortem. At present he has not been identified. The police have informed the company officials. The body will be identified only after their arrival.

According to the information, the LPG tanker was going from Baroda to Jabalpur on Sunday. Meanwhile, at Peepalwali turn on National Highway 45, the tanker broke the roadside railing, went straight down the highway, overturned and caught fire. The fire was so severe that the driver and cleaner on board did not get a chance to escape and they got caught in the fire. The fire also spread to the surrounding area and three huts built for animals in the fields got burnt. As soon as the information was received, Bari police along with SDOP Aditi B. Saxena reached the spot. An attempt was made to control the fire by calling fire brigades from Bareilly, Bari, Sultanpur, Goharganj and Obaidulaiganj and after about an hour of hard work the fire was brought under control. After extinguishing the fire, the police sent both the bodies to Bari hospital for post-mortem. Although there is no loss of life in the huts, the goods, straw etc. kept in them have been burnt. The Revenue Department team is assessing the loss.

Bari SDOP Aditi B. Saxena said that two people traveling in the tanker died due to fire in the LPG tanker. There has been no loss of life due to the spread of fire nearby. The company has been informed, the body will be identified only after their representatives arrive.
