Martyrdom Day prayer

22 03 2024 Edit 9346649

Today is martyrdom day. On this day in 1931, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged in Lahore jail. These freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the country without caring about the atrocities of the then British government. The court had fixed March 24 for his execution, but the pawns of the British government were afraid that the common people might create a big uproar outside the jail in favor of Bhagat Singh and his comrades. That is why the authorities of that time hanged him a day before, under the supervision of an honorary judge. All of them also laughed and kissed the ropes of hanging and then they became immortal and became history. The frightened government of that time was panicking just after seeing the dead bodies of the three martyrs. The crowd was increasing outside the jail. Then the authorities broke the back wall of the jail and then he was cremated outside the village of Ganda Singh Wala, about 10 kilometers from Firozpur. The white officers of terror also spread the ashes of the three martyrs in the Sutlej river overnight. After his and thousands of other martyrdoms, the country became independent on 15 August 1947. All the freedom fighters including Shaheed Bhagat Singh must have dreamed of an ideal India and sacrificed their lives following the teachings of Gurus, Pirs, Fakirs, Vedas, Upanishads. They might have thought that their sacrifice would make future generations happy and prosperous. They would never have thought that the youth would fall into drug addiction and the decline of gangsters would begin from the beginning of the 21st century. The martyrs would never have imagined that independent India would be occupied, all principles of morality would be torn to pieces and corruption would be rampant in every field. There will be no respect for big or small, the respect for the elderly will be greatly reduced.

Today our country is a victim of great economic difficulties. The debt burden on entire India including the Punjab government is increasing. Our youth should give up the trend of going abroad and start serving the country. If they can go to another country and work hard then they can do all this on their own land also. At present, the country is facing challenges like poverty, illiteracy, inequality, gender discrimination, terrorism, communalism, regionalism and increasing violence. Today, on the occasion of Martyrdom Day, let us all take a pledge to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs, fulfill their wishes one by one and face all the challenges boldly. Only then will our India truly become heaven on earth.
